To inflict punishment of wrong doing so as to ensure non repetition of it is the best principle.
As per the will of Vimalanandaswami, Vidyanandaswami (known earlier as Ram Charan) became the second (present) pithadhipathi of Sri Vyasashram in January 1973. He was a disciple of Malayalswami since childhood. He did six years intensive penance and learnt Sanskrit and Vedic knowledge. He acquired expertise in Sanskrit literature and spiritual knowledge at Benaras. He wrote books in Telugu entitled Vedantahrudayam, Mandakyopanishat Upanyasamulu, Panchabhrama Nivruthi Nirupanamu and Vedantahrudayamu. He served earlier as the Head of the Sivagiri Ashram at Diguvamagam in Chittoor district and did penance for 18 years. He toured extensively all over Andhra Pradesh and border areas of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, besides important places in England and USA during 1995 and 1997. He became very famous for his erudition, penance and perseverance, scholarly discourses, which can be understood and followed even by lay people. He conducted Uttarayana Maha Yajna along the seacoast at Kakinada for six months, which made thousands of devotees to take up spiritual practices and become his disciples. Under his leadership, the Golden Jubilee of the Sri Vyasashram took place in 1976 and the Centenary celebrations of Malayalaswami in 1985. He is destined to lead the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the Sri Vyasashram in March 2001 on a grand scale.
